JA of Prince Edward Island

Junior Achievement is about the future - the future of our province, the future of our country, and the future of both as members of the global community and as players in the world economy. We are specifically about youth - our future consumers, leaders, entrepreneurs, business people and citizens. As part of an international, non-profit organization, JA programs teach young people about business and economics through age appropriate activities that complement class curricula. JA's current program line-up includes programs at the elementary, middle and high school levels. Taught by local volunteers, JA programs enable young people to develop essential life skills through exposure to interactive activities and innovative business simulations. Annually approximately 200 Islanders volunteer with JA, helping young people understand how business and economics really work.

The JA experience empowers young people, increasing confidence in their self sufficiency. Our ultimate goal is to ensure that every young person has the opportunity to experience a JA program at least once in his or her educational careers. Since its establishment in Prince Edward Island in 1985, JA of PEI has continued to gain momentum, and our overall program delivery has grown significantly. Currently, we offer five JA programs targeted at students in Grades 3 - 12 and impact between 3,000 - 4,000 students on an annual basis in communities from Souris through Alberton.
